Bid Description:
The Reduce Reuse Pilot Grants are awarded by the Solid Waste Program of the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation to meet the goals of the 2023 Vermont Materials Management Plan. According to 10 V.S.A. § 6604(a)(1)(B) “The [Vermont solid management waste] plan shall promote…the greatest feasible reduction in the amount of waste generated.” The overall generation of waste reflects all materials that Vermonters use and discard—whether through disposal in the trash or through alternatives that divert materials from the trash, such as reuse, repair, recycling, and composting.
Goals of this grant program:
1. Increase waste reduction through use of durables, reuse and/or repair.
2. Build infrastructure that supports widespread adoption of reuse and/or repair in Vermont.
3. Encourage innovation through testing or expanding new approaches, systems, or technologies that help achieve the first two goals.
The State seeks proposals for projects that reduce waste in Vermont by extending the life of products through donation, sharing, rescue, reuse and/or repair. These grants will provide from $3,000 (minimum) to $10,000 (maximum) to eligible businesses, non-profits, solid waste management entities, municipalities, and schools/colleges for short-term waste reduction projects of one year or less. A total of $40,000 is available for this program.
All work is to be completed between December 15, 2026 and December 15, 2027. Specific deliverable deadlines are indicated in the Scope of Work below. The State will monitor Supplier’s activities and performance in order to detect and prevent problems, and to ensure compliance with grant agreement terms and granting agency requirements.
This grant is not for recycling and composting projects.
