Bid Description:
The Vermont Dairy Promotion Council (VDPC), administered by the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets (VAAFM), is the organization responsible for the oversight of the funds collected via the USDA Dairy Research and Promotion Program, otherwise known as the Dairy Check-off. This program collects $0.10 per hundredweight of all milk produced in Vermont from cow, goat, and sheep dairy farmers which totals approximately $2 million in funds annually. Dairy Check-off funds can be used to support post-milking activities including marketing, education, outreach, and consumer development. The VDPC has identified the following areas as priorities for the allocation of Vermont-generated funds: consumer, health professional, and youth education; farmer development; consumer engagement, marketing, and promotion; research; and Vermont focused projects.
