Bid Description:
RECEIPT OF BIDS: Sealed bids on forms prepared by the Engineer will be received on behalf of the City of Essex Junction at the offices of Donald L. Hamlin Consulting Engineers, Inc., located at 136 Pearl Street in Essex Junction, Vermont, until 2:00 p.m. (local time) on 05/29/2025 for the Iroquois Avenue Waterline & Roadway Replacement Project. The contract generally includes the following work items on Iroquois Avenue in the City of Essex Junction:
1) Supply and Install 1,230 lf of 8” CL 52 Ductile Iron Waterline
2) Supply and Install 30 lf of 6” CL 52 Ductile Iron Waterline
3) Supply and Install 2 New Hydrant Assemblies, Remove and Dispose of 2 Existing Hydrants
4) Supply and Install 400 lf of 3/4” Type K Copper Water Service
5) Supply and Install 16 3/4” Corporations and 16 3/4" Curb Stops
6) Supply and Install 2,000 cy of Dense Graded Crushed Stone
7) Supply and Install 800 cy of Plant Mixed Gravel
8) Supply and Install 71,000 sf of 2” Extruded Polystyrene Insulation Board
9) Supply and Install 1030 tons of Bituminous Concrete Pavement
10) Remove and Reset 1,800 lf of Granite Curbing
11) Supply and Install 150 cy of Topsoil and 1,400 sy of Lawn Area Restoration
All work will be in accordance with Drawings, Specifications and other Contract Documents and information prepared by the City of Essex Junction, 2 Lincoln Street, Essex Junction, Vermont.
A Non-Mandatory Pre-Bid meeting will be held on-site on May 15, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. (local time). Prospective Bidders are responsible for inspecting the site and being thoroughly familiar with the Contract Documents.
OBTAINING CONTRACT DOCUMENTS: Digital Drawings, Specifications, and other Contract Documents may be obtained by emailing Jeffrey P. Kershner, P.E., President, Donald L. Hamlin Consulting Engineers, Inc. at jkershner@dlhce.com. Prospective bidders will be added to the Plan Holder List and will be provided with access to a digital Sharepoint site. All Drawings, Specifications, Contract Documents, Addendums, and other relevant project information will be available on the Sharepoint site free of charge. It is the responsibility of the Prospective Bidder to review relevant project information located on the Sharepoint site. Prospective Bidders must be on the Plan Holder List to receive access to the Sharepoint site and be eligible to submit a bid.
BIDS WILL BE PUBLICLY OPENED AND READ AT 2:00 p.m. (local time) on May 29, 2025 in the conference room at Donald L. Hamlin Consulting Engineers, Inc. located at 136 Pearl Street in Essex Junction, Vermont 05452.
BID GUARANTY: Each bid shall be accompanied by an acceptable form of Bid Guaranty in an amount equal to at least five percent (5%) of the amount of the Bid, payable to the City of Essex Junction, as a guaranty that if the Bid is accepted, the Bidder will execute the Contract and file acceptable Performance, Labor, and Material Payment Bonds within ten (10) days after the award of the Contract. Acceptable form for a Bid Guaranty is either a bid bond or certified check. No bidder may withdraw his bid within 30 days after the actual date of the opening thereof. The owner reserves the right to waive any informalities and to reject any or all bids.
CONTRACT TIME: If awarded the Contract, the Contractor agrees to complete the work in its entirety, as shown on the Contract Plans. The anticipated contract start date for the project is June 23, 2025, and all work shall be completed on or before October 3, 2025.
