The Mount Abraham Unified School District (MAUSD) is accepting proposals from qualified general contractors (GC) to provide outdoor learning spaces for the schools in our district. MAUSD is located in Addison County and includes the town school districts of: Bristol (Bristol Elementary K-6), Monkton (Monkton Central School K-6), New Haven (Beeman Elementary School K-6), Starksboro (Robinson Elementary School K-6), and Mt. Abraham Union Middle/High School #28 districts (7-12 with middle and high school units). Outdoor classrooms provide a dedicated space to combine the targeted teaching of a traditional classroom with the immersive and interactive natural spaces outside of a school building. MAUSD is located in Addison County and includes the town school districts of: Bristol (Bristol Elementary K-6), Monkton (Monkton Central School K-6), New Haven (Beeman Elementary School K-6), Starksboro (Robinson Elementary School K-6), and Mt. Abraham Union Middle/High School #28 districts (7-12 with middle and high school units). Outdoor classrooms provide a dedicated space to combine the targeted teaching of a traditional classroom with the immersive and interactive natural spaces outside of a school building. Project Scope Construction of (3) 20’ x 30’ cape style pavilion frame structures to be used as outside learning spaces. One pavilion will be constructed at Monkton Elementary School, one pavilion at Beeman Elementary School and one pavilion at Bristol Elementary School. Individual school addresses may be found at MAUSD.org. Alternate bids for individual pavilions will be considered given the timeline and capacity available in this project. Specifications for the structures: Concrete slab specifications: All structures are to have alaskan style slabs. Minimum 4000 psi with 8" minimum x 2’ perimeter, 5" minimum interior. Substitutions can be made with determined pillars or screw piles. Roof specifications : Roof rafters are 7/12 pitch and ridge beam support. Roof decking no less than 1/2" sheeted wood base material covered with 25-year architectural shingles. Alternate pricing requested with standing seam roof. Upright timbers must be no less than 8" with a 9' eave plate height. Organization Approach and Personnel Qualifications: Provide a statement of qualifications and capability to perform the services sought by this RFP, including: a. Detailed plan and timeline for approaching the subject of this RFP. b. Qualifications and experience for personnel working on this engagement including skillset (described in detail), experience level, and job title. Relevance with similar projects should be cited along with the level of effort expected for this engagement. 3. Davis Bacon Act requirements This project is being funded by Federal funds. This contract must be in compliance with the Davis Bacon Act for Contracting. The contractor selected will need to provide proof of compliance with Davis Bacon with each report/billing submitted for payment to the district. Davis Bacon requirements can be found at: https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/government-contracts/construction/faq/conformance Selection and Conditions of Acceptance MAUSD shall select the lowest qualified bid unless the two lowest bids are within 1%, upon which MAUSD can select one of the two low bidders. MAUSD reserves the right to reject non-responsive and non-conforming responses and to reject any and all Statements of Qualifications/Proposals. MAUSD is not responsible for any cost incurred in the preparation of the GC’s response to this RFP.
