Bid Description:
The Vermont Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS) is looking for a dynamic, organized individual with strong client relationships that builds and fosters teamwork. Must be able to lead and manage others in a team environment and communicate effectively with key constituents. This position serves as the direct representative for the Waterbury Complex reconstruction project including new buildings, renovations, remodeling, and site improvements. This individuals primary responsibility is coordinate user groups, design consultants, and construction management personnel to form a project team to plan and execute this construction project; manage the quality, cost, and schedule work with the project team to develop and allocate the total budget, reviewing construction cost estimates and project schedule, and monitoring the consultants’ progress during the design and construction phases of the project. Work with the project team to develop project design and details that meet the users’ functional requirements and the State of Vermont, conduct detailed review of drawings and specifications prepared by design consultants and initiate and conduct reviews of these documents by user groups and State of Vermont service providers. In addition, must provide construction administration services including routine visits to job sites, coordination of contractor’s; construction document review, bidding processes, GMP development (if used), pre-construction meetings, construction progress and schedule updates, monitor the project costs during the design and permitting phases and construction phases, progress of the work, changes initiated by the State of Vermont, design consultant(s) and contractor during the course of construction, closely scrutinize all expenditures including change order requests. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited college or university is required or a minimum of ten (10) years experience working as a construction project manager in charge of capital projects, including projects valued at amounts in excess of $25 million.
