Bid Description:
The Town of Northfield, VT (Northfield) seeks bids from qualified contractors to replace the wooden bridge deck on the foot bridge located near the intersection of Water Street and Union Street. The project involves the removal of the existing bridge deck, and the installation of new laminated deck and runner planks.
Project Scope
Remove and replace approach 6X6’s posts, and 2 x 6 railings.
Remove existing 2 x 4 nail laminated deck and plywood overlay. Install a new 2 x 6 nail laminated deck with 2 x 8 full width runner planks. The contractor is responsible for the disposal of projects materials and debris.
Submittal
Proposals shall include the following:
1. Letter expressing interest in the project.
2. Project Schedule – a timeline, and completion dates. All work must be completed by June 15, 2024.
3. Cost proposal – a full schedule of project costs, including material costs.
All information submitted becomes property of the Town of Northfield upon submission. The municipality Northfield reserves the right to issue supplemental information or guidelines relating to the request for bids as well as make modifications to the request or withdraw the request. The cost of preparing, submitting and presenting a proposal is the sole expense of the consultant. The Town of Northfield reserves the right to reject any and all proposals received as a result of this solicitation, to negotiate with any qualified source, to waive any formality and any technicalities or to cancel the request for bids in part or in its entirety if it is in the best interest of the Town of Northfield. This solicitation of proposals in no way obligates the Town of Northfield to award a contract.

All proposals must be received by the Town of Northfield no later than 4:00 PM April 15, 2024. The Town reserves the right to reject all and any bids. Proposals shall be sent to the Town Manager, Town of Northfield, 51 South Main Street, Northfield, VT 05663, or email to jschulz@northfield.vt.us.
CONTRACTING PROVISIONS
All contractors, and any sub-contractors must carry adequate insurance coverage (not less than $1,000,000-per occurrence). $1,000,000 - General Aggregate Applying, in total, $1,000,000 - Products/Completed Operations Aggregate, $50,000 – Fire/Legal/Liability, and $1,000,000 – Automotive Liability).
