Bid Description:
The Vermont Agency of Transportation, hereinafter referred to as AOT, is seeking contractor services to convert logs to timbers, boards, and dimensional lumber. AOT currently cuts thousands of trees a year and is looking for additional avenues to utilize this precious resource. Currently AOT harvests hardwood trees for firewood to heat many AOT facilities, but does not have a constant use for softwood trees. Many of the AOT facilities consistently need or request building materials for roadway work, facility upgrades and sideboards for dump trucks. Having the capability to have the logs sawed into timbers, boards and dimensional lumber not only provides a use for the logs we cut but also reduces the amount of money we invest in building materials.
