Bid Description:
In 2023, an assessment of the flood risk at Manufactured Home Communities (MHC) in Vermont was completed mere weeks before severe floods impacted some of these communities. Consequently, this is an important time to record the experiences of those impacted, take stock of lessons learned and to continue to acquire information from the affected communities and individuals regarding the impact of the flooding. Little information has been available about the decisions and outcomes of people affected by the flooding. Establishing and maintaining long term relationships with those individuals and communities significantly impacted by flooding may allow DEC to improve the State’s work beyond the extent of this funding. Most importantly, the State needs to keep working through the established relationships with MHC as part of the learning process in terms of evaluating environmental justice factors regarding flood safety and identifying the co-benefits of floodplain function including clean water, health, and social connection.
