Bid Description:
This project will assess the condition of eight (8) fire towers located on State Land throughout Vermont, making detailed recommendations to correct any issues present that pose potential structural failure or safety issues to users. This project will also produce designs and biddable sketches for standardized additional safety features to be installed on all fire towers. Additional safety features will include railings around the cab stairwells, fence fill along all stair tread and corner platform openings and the replacement of wooden steps and corner platforms with non-rotting slip-resistant material.
Special Instructions:
Structures are historically sensitive and require designed modifications that do not permanently alter current condition. The Division of Historic Preservation will need to review and approve the designs for additional safety features.
