Bid Description:
The Oxbow Unified Union School District is requesting proposals for production of a scoping study to identify issues with the construction of a pedestrian route from the Bradford Elementary School to the Low St. John Forest, funded in part by the Federal Highway Administration and the Oxbow Unified Union School District, through the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) Municipal Assistance Bureau (MAB). Bradford Elementary School uses their Low St. John Forest for outdoor education and is in the process of planning for an outdoor classroom and a composting toilet. While the school is less than a mile from the Forest, students have to take a bus to access the forest since there is not a safe pedestrian route. This feasibility study would look at a possible pedestrian connection from the end of N. Pleasant St. to the existing snowmobile trail that goes through Low St. John Forest could be achieved so the school and community can access the Forest more often. The School District is open to other alternative access points based on the expertise of the consultant.
