Bid Description:
The Town of Granville is replacing an existing undersized and poorly aligned 48” x 30ft steel culvert on Town Line Road. A recent hydraulic study recommended replacing the steel culvert with a 5ft x 12ft x 45ft concrete box including a natural bottom, headwall, wing walls, guardrail and a retaining wall. Natural features (waterfalls/cascades) at this site present natural barriers for fish passage, so a smaller structure may be allowed to at least meet the 10’ bankfull width of the site as recommended by the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation. This undersized culvert is over an unnamed tributary that flows to Thatcher Brook and the greater White River watershed. The existing culvert is starting to fail with the headers beginning to collapse. There is also no guardrail over this structure which is a safety issue as the road is fairly narrow over the structure.
