The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Clean Water Initiative Program (CWIP) provides funding in the form of grants and contracts to support projects that reduce sediment and nutrient pollution, including phosphorus from runoff and soil erosion that discharge into the state’s rivers, streams, lakes, ponds and wetlands.
A total of $215,000 is available for the Watershed Work Crew Block Grant, to support on-the-ground implementation of high priority projects that have been identified through Tactical Basin Plans and sector-based assessments, such as stormwater master plans, road erosion inventories, or lake assessments. The applicant must describe the process for project identification using basin planning, targeting outreach and delivery of implementation assistance through the management of work crews.
