Bid Description:
The City of Vergennes, with federal Transportation Alternatives Program funding through VTrans, is seeking engineering services to design a new salt shed to replace the existing municipal salt shed. This project shall consist of the removal and replacement of the existing salt shed located on the southwest corner of the Canal Street and West Street intersection, located west of the City’s recycling center. The new salt shed will be located on the same parcel as the existing salt shed. The City does not have a pre-determined structure in mind for the new salt shed, so long as it is a cost-effective solution that fits their needs. The facility will need separate areas for salt (approximately 700 tons) and sand (approximately 250 cubic yards), area to stockpile cold patch asphalt, and sufficient area to house two liquid deicer tanks with a capacity of approximately 1,000 gallons each. It is anticipated that the new facility dimensions may be approximately 60-feet by 80-feet and will be located at the southern end of the City-owned parcel near West Street. It is expected that the construction work needed for the project will all be within the City-owned parcel. Therefore, no property easements are anticipated for construction. The design plans for this project shall include demolition plans for the existing salt shed. With the use of Federal funding, the project will be subject to oversight and guidance by VTrans who administers the funds. Additionally, the development of the project must follow the VTrans MAB project development process. The project will be managed by Mathew Chabot, City of Vergennes City Manager with oversight by Derek Kenison, VTrans Project Supervisor, and Municipal Project Manager (MPM) Jonathan Ashley, P.E., DuBois & King, Inc. QUESTIONS: Questions about the project are due by October 18, 2019 and are to be directed to Mathew Chabot, City Manager, by phone at (802)877-3637 or email mchabot@vergennes.org. Questions related to the local project development process can be answered by VTrans Project Supervisor, Derek Kenison, VTrans MAB, One National Life Drive, Montpelier, VT 05633-5001 – phone (802)595-4316 or email derek.kenison@vermont.gov. RESPONSE FORMAT AND SUBMISSIONS: See attached RFP for details on response format and requirements for submissions. SCOPE OF WORK: See attached RFP for scope of work for this project.
