Bid Description:
The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is requesting services to create methodology and maps for the Lake Champlain Basin in Vermont to quantify existing and potential floodplain functions related to water quality, habitats, and flood hazard mitigation. The resulting products are expected to help identify and track priority protection and restoration projects and be made available through a web application accessible to watershed organizations and other natural resources restoration partners. The functioning floodplain assessment, mapping, valuation and tracking will constitute phase 2 of a DEC Functioning Flood-plain Initiative and will augment current state river corridor planning. Phase 2 will build upon the stream and floodplain connectivity mapping and the hydrology-hydraulics mapping framework that is under development in Phase 1 of the project. The end products of this contract will support community involvement in strategic floodplain protection and restoration work in the Basin.
