Bid Description:
*See Attachments for full detail* The Vermont Department of Corrections (DOC), is seeking proposals to for consultation to the Department regarding use of facility kitchen/s in culinary training and/management opportunities for inmates. Anticipated contract period will be April 1, 2019 through March 30, 2020 with option to renew for two consecutive one-year periods. The option to renew will be based upon performance of contractor and continued funding. Vermont Department of Corrections has been awarded an Adult Reentry and Employment Strategic Planning grant to further explore vocational training opportunities and partnerships which could improve success of inmates transitioning to community settings. One strategy identified by the DOC is to further explore the opportunity to enhance current culinary work experience of inmates in the facility kitchen to better align with vocational opportunities in the community. The following qualifications and qualities in applicants are desirable: 1. Experience working with individuals formerly incarcerated in a food industry. 2. Familiarity with technical skills which may be incorporated as part of a vocational training program including accounting software, calendar and scheduling software, inventory software. 3. Knowledgeable about customer services, culinary education and training, principles of recruitment and retention, personnel monitoring. 4. Scope of work inclusive of service and industrial settings.
